Systems Engineer

Summary

The Systems Engineer will work as part of a small team to help build, maintain, and troubleshoot real-time test systems using Tech180’s architecture to meet client specifications ensuring the highest levels of performance while managing any problems that arise. Customer applications include systems integration lab (SIL) data systems, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, line replaceable unit (LRU) testing, and production (ATP, ESS, HALT/HASS) testing. The ideal candidate will have a solid understanding of hardware and software components of a test system.

Responsibilities

  • Parsing, translating, and documenting customer requirements
  • Development of project proposals and system designs that meet customer requirements while fitting within a standard architecture
  • Design of new hardware and software subsystems required to create the end-customer deliverable
  • Development of work instruction documentation for test asset manufacturing
  • Hardware and/or software development of project subsystems as required

Requirements

  • 2+ years of systems engineering experience
  • BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Computer or Aerospace), MS a Plus
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits and schematics
  • Competency with both hardware and software
  • Strong client-facing verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic, team-oriented environment.
  • Availability for occasional/limited travel or flexible/extended hours when needed

Helpful Skills

  • Industry experience in HIL testing or Aerospace engineering
  • Working knowledge of common aerospace signals including avionic buses
  • Design of analog and digital circuits and/or PCB design skills
  • Experience with Python
  • Knowledge of National Instruments product platforms (PXI, LabVIEW, Veristand, TestStand)
  • Project management and/or engineering team leadership experience

Software Engineer

Summary

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Software Engineer to develop internal and client-facing software applications. Our innovative solutions in simulation and test help companies rapidly develop safety-critical control systems for vehicles like aircraft and autonomous cars. These industries are growing, and we are expanding as we gain new opportunities.

We are seeking a self-starting and motivated individual. The right candidate will be capable of working independently and must be comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, maintain, and document software scripts and applications
  • Production of requirements documentation and automated tests
  • Participation in internal code and design reviews
  • Determine and document software development processes and best practices
  • Coach and train developers with less experience

Requirements

  • Strong object-oriented Python programming skills
  • Database design and SQL knowledge
  • Ability to design and navigate complex software architectures
  • Ability to quickly and independently troubleshoot issues
  • Excellent written technical communication skills
  • 2+ years of related industry experience

Helpful Skills

  • SQLite and SQLAlchemy experience
  • Experience with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) infrastructure
  • LabVIEW, LabVIEW FPGA, and LabVIEW Real-Time
  • Continuous integration
  • Working knowledge of electrical circuits and schematics
  • Knowledge of rack-mount test equipment

Electrical Design Engineer

We are seeking a motivated and versatile Electrical Design Engineer to assist in the design of our rapidly expanding product portfolio. Our innovative solutions in simulation and test help companies rapidly develop safety-critical control systems for vehicles like aircraft and autonomous cars. These industries are growing, and we are expanding as we gain new opportunities.

The Electrical Design Engineer will work within a small team to develop new products and design customer-specific solutions. We are seeking a self-starting and motivated individual. The right candidate will be capable of working independently and must be comfortable working in a dynamic startup environment.

Responsibilities

  • Digital and analog circuit design and component selection
  • Provide cost and schedule estimates
  • Schematic capture and PCB layout
  • Development of test procedures and automated test fixtures
  • Design verification, troubleshooting, and benchmarking
  • Drafting assembly drawings and bill of materials
  • Assisting in product manufacturing and system integration
  • Improve and evolve company product develop processes

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field
  • At least two years of related industry experience. More experienced candidates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Solid understanding of circuit design and PCB layout tools
  • Experience with generation of technical documentation
  • Proficient with electronics test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, etc.)
  • Independent problem solver

Helpful Skills

  • Knowledge of rack-mount test equipment
  • Experience with Altium Designer, and SOLIDWORKS
  • Experience with source control tools such as git
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
